Vetiver essential oil, is also known as khus oil, which is extracted from the vetiver plant, a clump, green grass native to India that can grow up to a height of 5 feet or more. The roots of the plant are different in their ability to grow downward, creating a thick tangle of roots in the ground. Vetiver oil is a quite fragrant, with a distinctive sharp and earthy scent. This aroma has been used among many perfume industries. Spiritually, vetiver essential oil is especially grounding. As it is quite calming, it is a good choice for meditation and prayer. The grounding effect makes vetiver oil a commonly used essential oil in topical, aromatic uses and in massage practices. Vetiver root essential oil can be attributed to its properties as an antioxidant, alkaliser and antimicrobial.
