About:-
Syzygium aromaticum is an important spices noted for its flavour and medicinal values. It is native to Moluccas island (Indonesia). The clove is an evergreen tree often reaching a height of 7 to 15 metres. Clove is strictly a tropical plant and requires a warm humid climate having a temperature of 20 to 30°C. Humid atmospheric conditions and a well distributed annual rainfall of 150 to 250 cm are essential. Deep black loam soil with high humus content found in the forest region is best suited for clove cultivation. Eastern and North Eastern hill slopes, well drained valleys and river banks are ideal for clove. Clove oil is used in perfumeries, pharmaceutical and flavouring industries. This oil is produced by distilling the dried flower buds that are collected from the clove.

Uses:-
Clove essential oil is highly used in dentistry. It is ideal to mix in temporary tooth fillings and works well to reduce pain. This oil is also used to improve effectively memory, used to treat an anxiety. The analgesic effects of cloves are useful for relieving pain associated with warts and bunions. The oil provides an effective natural remedy for dry or puffy skin. Clove essential oil is the active ingredient in tiger balm, which is used to stimulate circulation to soothe aching muscles. Clove oil has a warm spicy smell that is quite strong. When used in aromatherapy, oil of clove stimulates the brain. It is beneficial to the digestive system, effective against vomiting, diarrhoea, flatulence, spasms and parasites, as well as bad breath. Clove bud oil is used as an ingredient in food, alcoholic beverages and soft drinks. It is used in the production of printing ink, glue and varnish. Clove is reported to stop nicotine addiction.
