Citronella is a tall fragrant perennial grass, growing up to height of 1-1.5 metres. The leaves are sessile, simple green and linear equitantly arranged. Leaves are glabrous, venation parallel with an accuminate a piece and sheathing base. The leaf sheath is tabular and acts as a pseudo-stem. Its true that citronella oil is an extremely effective insect repellent but it also has a myriad of other aromatherapy uses. This oil is commonly used in soaps, detergents and cleaning products. Not only that, but citronella also has an incredibly calming aroma. It is very powerful and high improves the oily skin and excessive perspiration. This oil is a colourless or light yellow liquid known for its characteristic woody, grassy or lemony odor. Vapours of this oil causes Initial stimulation followed by depression of the central nervous system when inhaled. It is also inflammable in nature.

Uses:-
Citronella essential oil is a very important oil used in perfumery and cosmetic industries. Citronella oil used in inhibition of bacterial growth, fights depression, relieves spasms, eliminates infections, anti-inflammatory properties, stimulates urination, removes bad odour, eliminates toxins, reduces fever, insect repellent, acts as a tonic, prevents stomach disorders, stimulant and kills intestinal worms.
