Patchouli is an aromatic crop mainly grown for its oil which is used in the manufacturing of cosmetic, tobacco, soaps, medicine, beverages and perfume industries. Patchouli plant is perennial small bushy herb of the mint family with erect stem, reaching up to a height of 3 to 4 feet and bearing small pale pink white flowers and yields fragrant leaves containing very sweet smelling oil. Most Asian countries are cultivating for commercial due to demand for this essential oil. Patchouli oil is obtained by steam distillation of the non fermented dried leaves of the plant. The fragrance of essential oil of Patchouli plant is rich, earthy and grounding. In perfumery as well as fragrancing applications, oil has a base note that acts as a fixative and ground. It’s aroma is mostly used in unisex and men’s blends.

Uses:-

Patchouli oil works as anti-depressant, help soothing inflammation. It has great antiseptic properties. Oil work as a great astringent, as well as help in healing cut and wounds quickly.
