The family of Zingiberaceae constituents of vital group of Rhizomatous medicinal and aromatic plants.The plant grow in a sunny border as a summer sub-tropical bedding plants. Hedychium spicatum is a smallish hardy ginger that grows upto 1.5 m with 30 cm green leaves and large orange flowers. The Rhizome part use in essential oil extraction by steam distillation.

Uses-
Hedychium oil useful in the treatment of liver complaints, treating fevers, vomiting, diarrhoea, inflammation, useful in pain and snake, scorpion bite. The root oil used in Medicinal industries. The Ayurvedic healing system use this herb for cure respiratory problems as well as poor blood circulation. The dry form of oil is use in purification of air quality and also used in godess worship.
