Description
About-
The plant called dill wood, the height of the plant is 60 to 75 cm with feathery leaves on sheathing foot stalks. The plant stalks are flat and umbel with yellow flowers and small rolled in word petals. The size of seed is approx 5 mm in length. The whole plant is aromatic and is mainly cultivated in many European countries. The essential oil is extracted from the seeds of the plant by the process of steam distillation. The oil has fresh, sweet, herbaceous aroma.
Major constituents-
Dill seed essential oil contains – volatile oil, carvone, dihydrocarvone, d-limonene, a-phellandrene, a-pinene, and dipentene.
Uses-
It is used in seafood which is popular in the Scandinavian countries. It’s oil also used in pickled vegetables, sour cream or mayonnaise based sauces and cheeses. Dill seed oil is also used for it’s pharmacological properties, such as anti bacterial, antifungal. Some other medications like use in relaxing effects on nervous muscle and Intestine, providing relax in respiratory system. This essential oil also works for treating hair fall and many more problems of hair’s. Other use of this essential oil is that – it removes gestic problem or digestive problem and stomach pain problems.
