The peppermint plant is native to the country of Canada. It falls in the Lamiaceae family of the Plantae kingdom. Peppermint bears flowers that are purple and the leaves are of dark green color. This plant is a hybrid of water mint and spearmint and is obtained by extracting the purple blossoms through the method of steam distillation. The extracted floral water has minty like fragrance due to the presence of menthol in the plant and is a clear liquid. It contains components such as menthol, isomenthone, piperitone, menthyl acetone, and isomenthone. The hydrosol can be very fruitful when applied on skin to provide relief from various skin ailments. It has a wonderful cooling effect when applied on the skin to help get relief from sunburn.
HISTORY:-
Peppermint is a cross between Spearmint and Water mint. It was first grown in England in the seventeenth century. The ancient Egyptians used peppermint to treat indigestion. It became very popular during the 18th century when it was used as a cure for vomiting, infections, and morning sickness.
USES:-
Peppermint floral water can be used to treat the sunburns as it contains menthol which gives a cooling effect when applied in the skin. When you take a bath, add a few drops of the floral water in your bathtub. Not only it will give you a refreshed feeling but it will also make your skin smooth and young. During summers, you can even spray this floral water in the summer to get rid of flies.
